Polish developer CD Projekt is not done with The Witcher franchise. The third entry, 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may have been the end of Geralt’s story and the last entry for the foreseeable future, but the studio is apparently already plotting the future for the fantasy series.
Speaking in a Reddit AMA after the launch of the final piece of game content for The Witcher 3 — the Blood & Wine expansion — the content’s lead designer said that while the studio is currently not actively developing it, it only makes sense that The Witcherfranchise, which has won countless accolades and Game of the Year awards, not to mention the admiration of millions of fans worldwide, would make a return at some point in the company’s future.
First up however is Cyberpunk 2077, the studio’s take on the Cyberpunk license and a game the developer has said will surpass The Witcher 3 in every conceivable way.
The sci-fi RPG was announced over 4 years ago, with no concrete details or launch date (or year, for that matter) in sight yet.
